Tallahassee, Florida’s Capital City is very blessed with an abundance of natural wonders and year round activities, so what better to go with that than four seasons of sun, flora and fauna!

Tallahassee is nestled in the Red Hills, bio-region in the Panhandle and it boasts the best topography in Florida it is also the most biologically-diverse region in the United States.

Not surprisingly Tallahassee has been named one of the USA last great places by both land and water, here you will find incredible wildlife mixed with breathtaking landscapes and lots of recreational activities perfect for those explorers and adventure seekers, plenty here to fill up on!

Wakulla Springs state park includes flood plain forest and a spring that entices a huge number of bird species to winter at, get up close and personal with the manatees who reside in the rivers in this area, also the wonderful birds on the parks river cruise, with very informative guides who are both fun and educational!

670 acres of beautiful land on the eastern shore of Lake Jackson the park has a blue bird trail with a series of 30 blue bird boxes, take a day to follow the trail and see how many beautiful birds you can spot?

Both canoeing and kayaking around Tallahassee is an adventure for both experienced and novices alike, getting away from it all on the water is a perfect way to unwind and see the real beauty of Florida.

Children learn a new sport and it’s very educational too! Try your hand at kayak fishing, beware manatees are year round residents in the rivers in this area and they are protected so follow the manatee rules!
If you’re into paddling then you won’t get bored there are 20 lakes, five rivers and miles of pristine coastline to choose from!

Tallahassee Museum of Florida History 




This is Florida’s newest exhibit that explains the history in Florida from 1513-1821, titled forever changed La Florida it highlights the arrival of European nations to Florida.

Phase one of the new exhibit opened on the 3rd march 2012 and is spilt into 3 sections the section known as the “land of many sections” highlights the year 1513 when up to a million people where in Florida, including the Timucua, Apalachee, and Calusa Indians, featured in this section is a recreated native dwelling.
The other two sections in phase one include “Spanish exploration” and “meeting of many cultures”.

The highlight of the Spanish section is the Spanish ship that visitors can walk through whilst learning about the age of exploration.

In the “meeting of many cultures” section you will be amazed by the life sized figures of people who lived in Florida in the sixteenth century.

All of phase one includes artefacts, drawings as well as interactive activities.
When the next phase is complete it will cover Floridian history through from 1821.

The completion of the museum is one of the many ways which Florida is celebrating its 500th anniversary in 2013.
